Creating Web Dynpro iViewsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

SAP NetWeaver Portal enables the creating and running of iViews that run on Web Dynpro technology. Web Dynpro iViews may run Web Dynpro ABAP or Web Dynpro Java. Web Dynpro Java applications being consumed may represent a single or multiple Web Dynpro windows and views.

Note

The View wizard has a single entry point for all the Web Dynpro Java iView options.

The portal uses its application integration technology to create remote Web Dynpro Java iViews. This is the same technology that enables the creation of SAP Application iViews (more information: Creating SAP Application iViews ). This technology enables a variety of iView creation options:

iView Type

Description

Remote Web Dynpro - Basic

Integrates a remote standalone Web Dynpro Java application that runs on a remote portal.

Remote Web Dynpro - Advanced

Creates a local iView that runs a remote Web Dynpro Java page residing on a remote portal.

Web Dynpro ABAP

Creates a local iView that runs a Web Dynpro ABAP application. The application may reside locally or on a remote system.

Note

The Web Dynpro ABAP iView should not be confused with the iViews created over SAP Applications, which are portal iViews that integrate various back-end, mostly ABAP, applications.
