License Administration Workbench |
Enhanced |
The License Administration Workbench (LAW) uses a new data model, which now has a unique key for each system. This means that you can now easily use LAW to administer systems with the same names, the names of which consist of system ID, hardware key, and installation number. The following functions are available in the License Administration Workbench:
|
Flexible License Mechanism |
New |
The flexible license mechanism extends the previous license procedure in such a way that the license for a system is no longer connected to the hardware for a message server. This means that the license remains valid, even if you move the message server to another server. This is primarily important for high-availability environments and for Adaptive Computing, since systems and system components often have to be moved between servers in these situations. For more information, see Flexible License Mechanism . |
License Administration at Operating System Level |
New |
You can use the program saplikey to set up, check, and administer the digitally-signed license key in your AS ABAP system at operating system level. The program resides in the directory /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/exe/run. You can use the saplikey program as an alternative to transaction SLICENSE. You can essentially perform the same functions using this command line program as with transaction SLICENSE. The advantage of the saplikey program is that only the database needs to be operating, and not the system, to import a valid license key into the database, for example. For more information, see License Administration at Operating System Level with Program saplikey . |
System Measurement |
Enhanced |
With the measurement program (transaction USMM), you can ascertain the number of users and chargeable objects of engines of the SAP software for each system. As preparation for this, you need to classify all users of your systems into user types. The following functions are available to you in the current release for this purpose:
