Development and Delivery of Hierarchy NodesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

In the Data Warehousing Workbench, BW objects are divided into tree structures using hierarchy objects:

  • InfoAreas

InfoAreas are used to structure InfoObjects and InfoProviders.

  • Application Components

These application components are used to structure InfoSources and should not be confused with application components for DataSources, which are created and delivered in the source system (OLTP).

If you want to deliver your objects along with hierarchy objects, note the following:

In the content development system, in the Modeling functional area of the Data Warehousing Workbench, create exactly one node as a subnode for your partner content objects by using the context menu for the root node of the relevant tree. (In general this node is inserted as the last node.) You can create many additional nodes under this node.

By doing this, you ensure that the node for your partner content objects are correctly transported into the customer system.

The following graphic shows two trees, in the content systems of different partners that have both been created as subnodes for the root node of a partner content node:

Import into the Customer System

The customer can import content from one or more partners. The content node is inserted under the root node for the relevant tree. If the customer imports content from various partners, these are inserted randomly. The customer can then arrange individual nodes as required.

The following graphic shows the tree in the customer system after importing content from both partners:
