Use

The Web Dynpro application DEMO_CUSTOM_EXT_FIELDS shows customer extension fields in Web Dynpro built-in Customizing.

Note

Remember that customer extension fields are only available in the administrator mode. To go to the administrator mode, open your application in SE80, and from the menu choose Start of the navigation path Web Dynpro Application Next navigation step Test Next navigation step Execute in Administration Mode End of the navigation path.

Customer extension fields are available for the following UI elements:

  • Table

  • Container UI elements

When you execute the application in administrator mode, in this example, a Table and a Group is displayed in the browser.

Procedure for Further Processing

  1. In the context menu for the respective header choose Settings for Current Configuration .

    Note

    Note that the cursor must be positioned on the Header of the Table, or of the container UI element.

  2. Choose Edit Customer Extension Fields .

    Now you can select whether a field is to be visible, hidden, or generally not available. The default value is Not Available .

    The possible settings are:

    • Visible

      The field is made visible so that everyone can see it.

    • Hidden

      Though the field is created, it is hidden immediately through Customizing, which means an end user can later make it visible.

    • Not available (default value)

      This is as if the field is not available at all.

  3. You can select the field type from the DropDown list next to a field.

    The following UI elements are generally available for display:

    • CheckBox

    • DropDownByKey

    • Image

    • InputField

    • TextView

    • RadioButtonGroupByKey (not for Table s)

    • TextEdit (also not for Table s)

    The application determines which field type would make the most sense. This is the entry Automatic .

  4. Choose Save and Close .

    The system generates the following:

    • For a container:

      Label and the appropriate field

    • For a Table:

      TableColumn, column header, and appropriate field as the cell editor
