You perform the following tasks to upload documents to KM folders, or to create or edit them.
For uploading documents, the maximum file size depends on the maximum size of an HTTP(s) request that can be forwarded by the ICM. The standard values allow requests up to 100 MB. Your administrator can change this value. For more information, see icm/<PROT>/max_request_size_KB .
Uploading Documents Through WebDAV
WebDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) contains extensions for the HTTP protocol that allow you to edit and manage files on remote Web servers.
You can use WebDAV to upload large quantities of documents to KM folders. In addition, you can edit documents directly on the server without having to download them.

Creating Documents From Templates
You can use templates to create documents in KM folders.
Choose Folder (or in the context menu of the folder) .
The prerequisite for this is that when you set up the working environment for authors, you have created templates and assigned these templates to folders.

Entering Information in Forms
You can use forms to publish information in the portal. The standard system contains an iView with which you can create news items using forms.

Uploading Documents to the Portal Through the User Interface
You can upload documents that you created using a PC application on your local host to KM folders.
You can upload a single document. To do so, choose Folder (or in the context menu of the folder) .
You can upload two or more files at a time. To do so, choose Folder (or in the context menu of the folder) . For more information, see Uploading Multiple Files to KM folders .
Creating Documents Online in the Portal
You can create the following types of documents online in the portal:
In a text file, you can enter simple texts without formatting.
In an HTML file, you can enter texts with simple formatting.
Choose Folder (or in the context menu of the folder) or HTML File .

Editing Metadata
If you create documents online in the portal or upload them to the portal using the user interface, you can assign values to the document properties. The values can, for example, contribute to the document being found more easily during searches, or be the prerequisite for classification in taxonomies.
Local Editing
You can edit documents from KM folders on your local PC. To do this, choose Local Editing in the context menu for the document in question.
