The properties and property values of portal systems, which are imported from the system landscape directory (SLD), are identical to the properties and values of the SLD systems. However, if property values in the SLD change, or if SLD systems are added or removed, you can update the portal systems by means of the synchronization capability available in the system landscape overview.
Synchronization is only available for system landscapes that were imported in their entirety from the SLD as well as for systems that were imported individually.
Synchronization behaves according to the following rules:
A landscape is synchronized on two levels:
If the structure of the landscape has changed in the SLD-a system added or removed- synchronization aligns the portal landscape with that in the portal, adding or removing systems according to the SLD structure.
In this case, however, a prompt appears offering you the option of excluding the systems from the synchronization process.
If the properties of systems in the SLD, or their values, have changed, the relevant properties in the PCD change accordingly.
Synchronization of an individual system aligns the PCD properties of the system, and their values, with those of the SLD.
Synchronization of portal system properties is performed.
A sync summary is created that states whether synchronization with the SLD caused properties to be changed, added, or removed.
Icons appear to indicate the synchronization status of system landscapes, systems, and properties. Choose Show icon legend to see the icon tooltips for explanations. For example, a pencil icon next to a property indicates that the property value of the portal system was not consistent with the value of the same property in the SLD and the value in the portal is overwritten.
Excluding Systems from Synchronization
You can exclude system landscapes and individual systems from being synchronized with the SLD by selecting them and choosing Exclude or Exlude All .
Undo Exclude
If you chose to exclude systems from being synchronized, you can reverse the decision by choosing Undo Exclude or Undo Exclude All .
The system does not hold previous exclusions in memory. If you synchronize again and want to exclude the same systems you previously excluded, you need to reconfigure the previous exclusions.
