Definition

The URL iView Editor enables you to edit URL iViews in the portal.

Use

The URL iView Editor allows you to perform the following tasks:

  • Modify settings you already defined in the URL iView Wizard.

  • Define additional settings not available in the URL iView Wizard.

Structure

The user interface of the URL iView Editor is divided as follows:

Description

URL

Specifies the URL of the source Web page providing the content to the iView.

For detailed information, see Selecting the Source URL .

Content to Display in iView

Specifies which area of the targeted Web page is displayed in the iView at runtime.

You can choose display the entire contents of the Web page or specify a captured area within the page.

Look and Feel

Specifies how the content should be displayed in the iView at runtime.

You may choose to keep the source formatting of the targeted Web page, or instruct the portal to render the content in the look and feel of the portal. The portal is able to render the content at runtime by applying to it the portal theme and runtime functionality, such as end-user accessibility support.

Note

The option to render content in the look and feel of the portal is only available to a captured Web area of type TABLE . You cannot render entire Web pages or HTML elements that are not TABLE elements.

Request Method

Specifies how the client's browser sends the request for content to the information source.

For detailed information, see Configuring URL Parameters .

System

Specifies the system alias that represents a system object defined in the portal. This system is used to facilitate user mapping for an information source that requires user authentication.

URL Parameters

A list specifying parameters that are appended to the URL of the iView. You can define preset values for parameters if needed and you can specify whether or not portal end users are able to view and personalize parameter values.

Once you have finished editing the iView, you can do the following:

  • Click Save to accept all changes.

  • Click Close to close the editor without applying unsaved changes.

  • Click Preview to view the iView as would appear in the portal at runtime.
