Administration RolesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The portal provides several administrator-specific roles with the portal. The default administration tools supplied with the portal are allocated to these roles, based on their relevancy to the intended task of each administrator.

You can customize the pre-configured role structures so that the standard tools shipped with the portal align with the administrative groups in your working environment. If needed, you may also create new administrative roles and then reassign the necessary worksets or iViews. See also Delegating Administration Tasks .

Features

The following table provides further information about the standard administration roles shipped with the portal:

Role

Description

Super Admin

Encompasses all administration tools in the portal administration environment.

This role contains delta links of the following worksets (see below for details of each workset):

  • User Administration

  • Content Administration

  • System Administration

By default, the super administrator role has also been assigned portal permissions for all initial content objects shipped with the portal. For more information, see Default Permissions .

Note

Upon installing the portal, your company's user base must be connected to the portal, so that the super administrator may begin distributing these administrator roles to the relevant users.

User Admin

Provides the tools for user management and role assignments in the portal (see User Administration ).

This role comprises the User Administration workset. For more information, see Workset: User Administration .

Content Admin

Provides the tools for creating and maintaining content in the portal (see Content Administration ).

This role contains the Content Administration workset. For more information, see Workset: Content Administration .

System Admin

Provides the tools for configuring, maintaining, and supporting the portal, its services, and system landscape (see System Administration ).

This role contains the System Administration workset. For more information, see Workset: System Administration .

Delegated User Admin

Provides the tools for a delegated user administrator in the portal (see Configuring Delegated User Administration Using Companies ).

Note

You can generate variations of the delegated user admin role by creating delta links or copies of this role and then customizing the appropriate UME actions of each one. For example, you can enable the UME.Manage_User_Password action to allow delegated user administrators to view user profiles and change the passwords of other users in their company.

Caution
  • Any changes you make to the Content Admin , System Admin , and User Admin roles are not be applied to the Super Admin role, and vice versa. For more information, see SAP Note 814509 Information published on SAP site.

  • Do not modify objects located in the standard Content Provided by SAP folder ( pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct ). Objects under this folder are reserved for SAP use only and are liable to change from version to version, including patch upgrades.
