Defining Naming Conventions for Content Object NamespacesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

When creating PCD objects - such as iViews, pages, worksets, and systems - the portal allows administrators to enter any string as the namespace of an object. To facilitate and standardize this procedure, you can define naming conventions for the namespace used in the content object ID.

The namespace naming convention can be based on the PCD path of the object or on the user who is creating or changing the object. In addition, you can develop a custom handler for determining valid namespaces.

Note

The feature controls content object ID namespaces only when an administrator creates an object or changes the ID of an object. It does not check namespaces for the following:

  • Imported content

  • Copied content

  • Content from content mirroring

  • Content created via code
