Managing System Messages for the Developer StudioLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You want to create, modify, or delete central system messages.

You can use system messages to create messages centrally and send them to your development teams. These system messages can be viewed by users in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) as soon as they are logged on to SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). The system message user interface gives you an overview of all existing messages, and shows you the details of selected messages.

The full overview shows you who created or modified messages and when, and the validity period of the messages.

The details show you the message content, its validity period, and validity area. You also use the details view to edit or create messages.

The validity period determines when a system message becomes visible in NWDS and for how long.

The validity area determines the technical area where the system message applies. You can specify the following areas:

  • General Generally valid; all users see this message

  • Domain Message can only be seen by users working in the specified domain of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI).

  • Track Message can only be seen by users working in the specified NWDI track.

  • Development Configuration Message can only be seen by users working with the specified development configuration.

    Note

You can define multiple validity areas for a system message, but the top area in the hierarchy is the valid area. For example, if you define a domain and a track from this domain for the validity area, all users working in this domain see the system message, even if they are not using the specified track.
