Use

This section describes the use of the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). The documentation is organized in the following sections trying to follow the flow of operations you perform in the NWDI.

  • Configuring the NWDI User Management

After installing the NWDI, you need to set up the users and groups that will work on it. You have to define the level of permissions for each user, and to define the level of access each user has to the NWDI parts.

  • Migrate from the local development environment you have been working so far.

Note that when CMS exports sources as DTR stream that can only be imported into another DTR. Therefore you cannot import these sources into a local development configuration. The same is true for the opposite direction. When you export an SCA from a local development configuration, the sources are packed as zip files into the SCA and cannot be imported by CMS as it is not in the format of a DTR stream. To manage to import the files, you have to follow the steps of the migration procedure.

For more information, see Migrating from Local Development to NWDI .

  • Set up the development landscape - setup the DTR that shall contain the development sources and artifacts.

    For more information, see:

    Name Reservation

    Managing Development Configurations

    Using DTR as Development Repository

  • You perform the development processes in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, in the corresponding perspectives for NWDI. For this you must have already configured the NWDI system, and know the exact development scenario to follow during the development process.

  • Transports in Heterogeneous SAP System Landscape

This section provides information about how to transport the sources through the landscape.
