Activating and Deactivating Method Execution

Use

Methods are a significant element of the monitoring architecture; these are assigned to monitoring tree elements (MTEs). While analysis methods are started by users, the monitoring architecture starts data collection and auto-reaction methods.

So that all data collection methods are started correctly, background dispatching must be activated. It starts all data collection methods that are executed periodically in the background process (as a job) (more information: Defining, Releasing, and Transporting Methods.

Note
Background dispatching is performed by the job SAP_CCMS_MONI_BATCH_DP. By default, the job runs once an hour.

To allow an auto-reaction to be executed in the central monitoring systems for alerts from remote systems (see also Setting Up Central Auto-Reaction Methods), central system dispatching must be activated.

Note

Central system dispatching is performed by the job SAP_CCMS_CENSYS_DISPATCHER.

If you want to check whether central system dispatching is active, proceed as follows:

Start transaction SM37.
In the Job Name field, enter SAP_CCMS_CENSYS_DISPATCHER, and in the User Name field, enter the wildcard character ( *). Activate the desired indicator for the Job Status.
In the Job Start Condition group box, in the or after event: input field, enter SAP_CSM_TRIGGER_CENSYS_DISPATCH, and choose Execute.

You can also explicitly deactivate method execution. As background dispatching and central system dispatching are absolutely vital for central monitoring, we do not recommend this function in production systems. Deactivate method execution only when specifically told to do so by SAP Support or temporarily during maintenance periods (for example, to avoid alerts constantly being generated during maintenance).

Note

Activate both background dispatching and central system dispatching in client 000.

Procedure

Activate Background Dispatching

Choose CCMS Configuration Alert Monitor , or call transaction RZ21.
The system displays the Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen. Choose Technical Infrastructure Local Method Execution Activate Background Dispatching .

Note
Note that not only the job SAP_CCMS_MONI_BATCH_DP runs under your user name, but also the data collection methods that are started by this job. You should therefore ensure that you user has the authorizations required for this. The authorizations are combined in the role SAP_BC_BASIS_ADMIN (see Central Monitoring with CCMS).

Activate Central System Dispatching

The system displays the Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen. Choose Technical Infrastructure Method Execution Activate Central System Dispatching .

Deactivate Background Dispatching

Choose CCMS Configuration Alert Monitor , or call transaction RZ21.
The system displays the Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen. Choose Technical Infrastructure Local Method Execution Deactivate Background Dispatching .
