Assigning Communication ComponentsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You perform the following steps to assign communication components to the application components of the process integration scenario.

Which communication components you can assign depends on how you defined the application component when you designed the process integration scenario.

Note

In the following, application components of type External Party with B2B Communication are B2B Components .

Application components that are not B2B components are Internal Application Components

.

Application Component

Assignable Communication Components

Internal application component (without assigned integration process)

One or more business system components.

One or more business components (only if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component; in this case, the assignments between the business components and business system components must match).

Internal application component (with assigned integration process)

Exactly one integration process component

Exactly one business component (only if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component; in this case, the assignment between the business component and integration process component must match).

B2B component

One or more business components.

If an internal application component has at least one connection to a B2B component, use business components as neutral representatives for communication with the external party. The assignments between business components and business system components, and between business components and integration process components define which business systems or integration processes from your internal system landscape are mapped to which (externally visible) business components: this results in an appropriate header mapping in the receiver agreement that is generated.

Caution

If you have selected Configuration for Advanced Adapter Engine , you cannot assign any integration process components.

Features

To call the function for assigning communication components, choose Assign Components .

A screen area is displayed in which you can make your assignments for the selected application component. The navigation arrows enable you to navigate between the application components in the process integration scenario.

Depending on the type of application component, you can perform the following activities.

Once you have made the necessary entries, confirm them by choosing Assign .

Assign Communication Components to an Internal Application Component (Without Assigned Integration Process)

  1. On the Business System Components for A2A tab page you assign the relevant business system components in a table (one line per communication component).

To select the business system components, use input help (F4 help in the Communication Component column).

If you want to create a new business system component, on the Business System Components for A2A tab page choose Create Communication Components for Business Systems .

More information: Defining Business Systems as Communication Components

The following steps are then only required if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component.

  1. On the Business Components for B2B tab page, enter the business components that you want to use for B2B communication.

  2. Assign the relevant business systems from your internal system landscape to each business component.

You can select the communication components for the business systems that you specified on the Business System Components for A2A tab page from the input help.

Assign Communication Components to an Internal Application Component (With Assigned Integration Process)

Assign Communication Components to an Internal Application Component (With Assigned Integration Process)

  1. On the Integration Process Component for A2A tab page, you assign an integration process.

All the integration process components that are based on the integration process that the application component is assigned to are available for selection in the input help.

  2. If you want to create a new integration process component choose Create New Object.

More information: Define Integration Process as Communication Component

The following steps are then only required if the application component has at least one connection to a B2B component.

  1. Under Business Components for B2B , enter the business component that you want to use for B2B communication.

The integration process component that is already entered under Integration Process Component for A2A is then assigned to this business component.

Assign Communication Component to a B2B Component

  1. Under Business Components for B2B , assign the business components.

Use the input help to select the business components.

  2. To create a new business component, choose Create Business Component .
