Define Direct ConnectionLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You use a direct connection to configure direct communication between two business systems.

The direct connection contains the following settings:

  • Assignment to receiver interface

  • Assignment to receiver channel

  • Adapter-Specific Attributes

These attributes define the configuration settings for the sender (Web service client).

Procedure

Use the following steps to define the direct connection in the Integration Directory.

  1. Call the create dialog for a direct connection.

For more information, see: Create Objects

  2. Specify the key of the direct connection.

The key contains the key fields for sender party, sender communication component, and sender interface, as well as receiver party and receiver communication component.

For more information, see: Object Key in Configuration Objects

Select the business systems that are to communicate using the Web service runtime as the sender and receiver communication components.

  3. Assign the receiver interface to the direct connection.

You can use the input help to select interfaces that are defined for the receiver communication component contained in the key of the direct connection.

  4. Assign the direct connection the receiver communication channel (adapter type WS) that you defined for the receiver system.

For more information, see: Configuring the Communication Channel with Adapter Type WS

The input help only displays the receiver channels that have been defined for the receiver business system.

    Note

Direct connections cannot be created generically; therefore, the wildcard character is not supported for key fields. Furthermore, you must ensure that no direct connection has the same object key as an existing sender agreement.

For more information, see: Object Key in Configuration Objects

    Note

For compatibility reasons, a previous version of the adapter type WS will continue to be offered. If you want to assign a communication channel with adapter type WS (previous version, software component version 7.10), you can find more information under Configuring Communication Channels with Adapter Type WS (Previous Version) .

  5. Specify the adapter-specific attributes for the direct connection.

You use the adapter-specific attributes to specify the configuration settings relevant to the Web service consumer.

For more information, see: Adapter-Specific Attributes

    Note

If you have assigned a communication channel with adapter type WS (previous version, software component version 7.10), you can find more information under Adapter-Specific Attributes (Previous Version) .

  6. Save and activate the direct connection.

    Caution

When you copy a direct connection, the users and passwords that are specified there are not copied as well for security reasons. Note that you therefore need to specify the users and passwords again after the copying process.
