
The Java System Properties tool enables you to view and edit online the current system configuration of the AS Java. This includes default and custom property data.
You can perform the following tasks:
View and edit properties of kernel and service modules
View properties of Java applications
View and edit JVM parameters on a particular instance
View shared tables (shared memory)
View and edit filters
These tasks are valid for all server processes on template and instance level.
Open SAP NetWeaver Administrator and then choose .
From the Templates pane, choose the template or an instance, depending on the level you want to view/configure properties.
We recommend that you make your configurations on an instance level.
Activate a Configuration Template
If you want to change the current template, proceed as follows:
Choose Show Advanced Properties .
Choose Change Template .
A dialog window informs you that the operation requires AS Java to be restarted.
Select the new template and choose the custom settings you need. Choose OK .
In order the changes to take effect, restart AS Java.
The restart is necessary both on template and instance level.

Viewing Properties on an Application
Choose the Applications tab .
Select an application.
If the application has any properties, choose the Show Details button to view the complete information.
Modifying Properties for Managers and Services
Choose Kernel or Services.
Select a manager or a service.
The Extended Details pane lists all the properties and their corresponding values. The custom value has priority over the default one.
To view more information about the property, choose Show Details .

To configure a property, select it and then choose Modify .
Enter a custom value and choose Set .
Save the change.
If you are on an instance level and configure a property not selected as Online Modifiable , a Confirmation Dialog window appears asking you to restart the AS Java.
To add a new property, choose the Add button and enter the relevant information.
To delete a property, choose the Delete button.
If you want to restore the initial property's value, choose Restore to Default .
Modifying JVM Parameters on an Instance
Depending on the type of JVM properties you want to see, you have the following options:
VM Environment
Memory VM Parameters
System VM Parameters
Additional VM Parameters
To only view the parameter's details, choose Show Details .
To change a VM parameter, select it and then choose Modify .
To save the change, choose Save .
If you are on an instance level and configure a VM property not selected as Online Modifiable , a Confirmation Dialog window appears asking you to restart AS Java.
You can also add and remove system and additional VM parameters.
Viewing Shared Tables
From the Templates pane, choose Show Advanced Properties .
Choose Shared Tables .
You can only view parameters and their features.
Modifying Filters
From the Templates pane, choose Show Advanced Properties .
Choose Filters .
You can add, remove, modify, and normalize filters.
To do this, use the relevant function buttons.
