Use

Use the Space Management monitor to monitor the available storage space in your databases and various file systems.

Note

If you are using the Central Performance History to store the performance values of the alert monitor in the long-term, these nodes would be very well-suited to long-term storage. You could then estimate future developments from the development of the free space in the database or file system over time, and therefore introduce appropriate measures before an alert occurs.

Execution

Check the Space Management monitor for alerts. To open the monitor, proceed as described in Tasks. Depending on the affected nodes, you can react to the alert as follows:

Affected MTE

Meaning

Free Space in DB
 <SysID>\<space object>

Different information about the size of and free disk space in the data area of the database used is displayed here, depending on the database.

Free Space in File System

This subtree contains the most important data about the space utilization of the file system, which is collected using the operating system collector SAPOSCOL. The Operating System Monitor (transaction OS06) is set as the analysis method.

<SysID>\<Instance>\<Drive> Freespace Percentage Used

The free disk space in the file system is displayed for each monitored file system (Freespace), together with the utilization of the available space for the file system as a percentage (Percentage Used).

Note

You can explicitly exclude specific file systems from monitoring by SAPOSCOL. For more information, see Central Monitoring of Operating System Data.
