Maintaining BI System ConnectionsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

To use BI queries, query views, and InfoProviders as data sources for your models, you first need to maintain a BI system connection in the Portal of a CE system. To create the system object, use the system object template SAP System .

Procedure

Exporting the J2EE Certificate

  1. Log on to the J2EE start page at http://<host>:<port> .

  2. Choose SAP NetWeaver Administrator .

  3. Log on with an administrator user.

  4. Choose Start of the navigation path Configuration Management Next navigation step Security Management Next navigation step Key Storage End of the navigation path.

  5. Click Edit.

  6. Choose TicketKeyStore .

  7. Choose SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert

  8. Click Export Entry .

  9. Choose the export format Binary X.509 .

  10. Download the file.

Importing the J2EE Certificate to the BI Back-End System

  1. Call transaction STRUSTSS02.

  2. Place the cursor over System PSE .

  3. Choose Start of the navigation path Certificate Next navigation step Import End of the navigation path.

  4. Specify the file system location of the J2EE certificate that you previously exported and confirm.

  5. Click Add to Certificate List .

  6. Click Add to ACL.

  7. Specify the system ID of the J2EE Engine and client 000.

    You can find the system ID (SID) of the portal on the J2EE Engine start page at http://<host>:<port> . Choose System Information and log on with the administrator user. The SID is displayed in the header.

  8. In the context menu for System PSE , choose Distribute.

  9. Save your entries.

Creating BI Users in the Portal

Ensure that the BI back-end users also exist in the J2EE Engine. You can either use the BI back end as the user store for the J2EE Engine or create the users manually. If you create the users manually, you should ensure that they have the same names as in the BI back end; This avoids the need to configure user assignment.

Creating the BI System Connection in the Portal System Landscape

  1. Log on to the portal using the administrator user: http://<host>:<port>/irj

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step System Landscape End of the navigation path.

  3. In the context menu for Portal Content , choose Content Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step System (from template) End of the navigation path.

  4. Choose the SAP system with load balancing template.

  5. Enter the system name, system ID, system ID prefix, and description and click Finish .

  6. Maintain the properties in the following categories:

    • BI/Business Intelligence

      • BI Directory Provider: yes

      • BI Master System: no/yes

        For BI master system choose no if the system is only used for Visual Composer. Choose yes for exactly one of the connected BI systems if the system is also used for reporting in BEx Web. It is not allowed to have more than one system flagged as master system.

    • Connector

      • Group: Logon group of back-end system

      • Message Server: Message server of back-end system

      • Remote Host Type: 3

      • SAP Client: Client of back-end system

      • SAP System ID (SID): System ID of back-end system

      • System Type: SAP_BW

        You can find the values for the logon group, system ID, and message server from the properties in the SAPGUI logon for the BI back-end system.

    • User Management

      • Authentication Ticket Type: SAP Assertion Ticket

      • Logon Method: SAPLOGONTICKET

      • User Mapping Type: admin, user

    • Create a system alias.

Choose Connection Tests to check the connection.
