Components of SAP Communication TechnologyLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Within the SAP environment, the need has arisen to link the classical technology that is written in ABAP with non-ABAP structures, to enable communication in both directions to occur without problems.

The following unit provides an overview of the different integration technologies supplied by SAP and explains the application area of each technology in the communication process.

The order in which the technologies are described reflects the chronological order in which they were developed, from data exchange using ABAP-based communication technologies (for example, IDocs, RFC, BAPI) to universally applicable Internet formats such as HTTP and HTTPS.

Note

You can find information about Java-based components in the documentation of the relevant product in the SAP Help Portal (for example, AS Java) or on the SAP Service Marketplace ( service.sap.com) for the standalone components SAP JCo, SAP .Net Connector, and SAP Business Connector (PDF format).
