Use

You can find information about the TREX system host in the Landscape Hosts window (TREX admin tool (stand-alone) or under the Hosts tab (TREX admin tool in SAP system (TREXADMIN).

Features

The window in the TREX admin tool (stand-alone) consists of the following tabs:

Note

Note, the TREX admin tool in the SAP system (transaction TREXADMIN) only shows a subset of the information displayed in the TREX admin tool (stand-alone).

Tab Page

Description

Version

Displays information about the TREX instances on the individual hosts. The following information is displayed:

  • Version: Time of creation of the TREX version

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • SID: SAP system ID

  • Instance: Number of the TREX instance

  • Version: Version information for the TREX software

  • Build: Version of the TREX build

  • Compile Time: Time when TREX was compiled

  • Change List: Information about the versioning of software changes

  • Type

Info

Displays technical information that was requested in the operating system using TREX.

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • Start Time: Time when TREX was started on the host

  • Path: Specification of the SAP retrieval path (for example, <drive>:\usr\sap\ABC\TRX01\pwdf6634)

  • Bits: Specification of the architecture of the operating system on which the installed TREX is running; for example, 64 for a 64-bit operating system

  • User: User under which TREX was started

  • Operating System: Operating system on which TREX was installed

  • CPU: Specification of the CPU architecture; for example, 2 CPUs * 2606 MHz + HT (hyperthreading)

Processes

Displays the TREX processes that run on each host.

Memory

Displays information about the working memory of the host on which TREX was installed and is running:

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • Total Memory [MB]/ Total Memory Used:

    available and used working memory

  • Physical Memory Size/Physical Memory Used:

    available and used physical memory

  • Swap Memory Size/Swap Memory Used:

    available and used virtual memory

Shared Memory

Displays which TREX instances and which other SAP applications access the shared memory.

Information about the shared memory, containing information about the topology of the TREX landscape for all TREX processes:

  • Size [MB]: Size of the configured shared memory

Free [%]: Available space in shared memory

  • The more indexes there are in a TREX landscape, the greater is the load on the shared memory and the less shared memory there is available.

Disk

Displays how much disk space is available the indexes to be stored.

  • Base Path: Path to the directory in which the TREX indexes are stored

  • Disk Size [MB]/Disk Free [%]: Available disk space in MB and percentage

  • Write [MB/sec]/Read [MB/sec]: Write and read speed

  • Access per Second: Access per second

With the Test function key you can check the performance of the disk store. You can select various test cases by choosing Test Mode and then start the test by choosing Test. You can also test and estimate the parallel throughput of the network.

Network

The following values are displayed in the upper part of the window:

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • Host Alias: If a host has more than one name (alias), all the names with which the host can be reached are listed here

  • Virtual Host[Real Home[: This column is filled if the entry SAPLOCALHOST is used to specify a virtual host name in the profile files.

  • Domain: Specification of the domain in which the host is running

  • IP Address: IP address of the host If the host has more than one network type and IP address, these are listed here.

In the lower part of the window, you can test the speed of the network in which the host is running with the Test function key and you can check if the TREX services can reach one another on the network. A matrix shows if and how the different TREX services can communicate with one another. The name servers on the TREX hosts check whether they can communicate with each other. This check takes place in two directions: It checks whether host A can communicate with host B and whether host B can communicate with host A.

The results of the check are displayed in the following colors:

  • Green

Communication is working in both directions.

The response times of the hosts are displayed. As long as the response times are in the millisecond range there are no problems network-side.

  • Yellow

Communication is only working in one direction. Host A can reach Host B but not vice versa.

This might be because the host names have not been administrated properly. Host A is not entered in the host name table on host B.

  • Red

    No communication is possible.

This might be because the hosts are not running, there are network problems, the names of the hosts are not recognized, or TREX is not running.

The IP Addresses row displays which IP addresses the host has. You can identify here whether a host has more than one network card and thus more than one IP address.

The Time Offset column displays the time differences between the hosts. This column is only for information purposes. Time differences do not affecting the functioning of TREX.

Environment

Displays the environment variables that were set under Windows:

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • Name: Name of the environment variable

  • Value: Value of the environment variable

Profiles

Displays the parameters that are specified in the TREX configuration file sapprofil.ini and the SAP profile DEFAULT:

  • Host: Name of the host on which TREX is running

  • Name: Name of the profile parameter

  • Value: Wert of the profile parameter
