Connecting the TREX Admin Tool to a Remote SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The TREX admin tool typically connects to the name server of the TREX instance to which the TREX admin tool belongs. You then administrate this TREX instance or, if the TREX instance belongs to a distributed system, you administrate the distributed system in question.

The TREX system that the TREX admin tool typically connects to is the default system.

You can also administrate another TREX system (remote system) using the TREX admin tool. To do this you connect the TREX admin tool with a name server belonging to the remote system.

Prerequisites
  • The TREX admin tool and the remote system have the same TREX release.

  • The TREX admin tool can reach the remote system via the network.

  • You know the user name and password for the remote system.

Procedure
  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Options Next navigation step Select Name Server End of the navigation path.

  2. Choose Remote.

  3. Enter the address of a name server belonging to the remote system. Confirm your entry.

  4. Enter the user name and password for the remote system. Confirm your entry.

Result

The TREX admin tool can connect to the remote system.

When you next start the TREX admin tool, a message appears asking you if you want to connect to the remote system. Choose Yes to connect to the remote system you just set up or No to connect to the default system.
