Importing PermissionsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

This topic relates to the import of permissions to a portal after you have exported the permission structure from the source portal (see Exporting Permissions ). Upon import to the target portal, the permissions of each object defined in the XML are only processed on if the object already exists in the portal, otherwise they are ignored. The import mechanism behaves as follows:

  • If the XML file defines object permissions, the current ACL structure settings in the portal are replaced.

  • If the XML file has no defined permissions, the ACL structure settings in the portal remain the same.

Prerequisites
  • An XML file containing the permission structure exported from a source system.

    Note

The XML file does not need to be named initialPermissions.xml . You may rename it to any name you want, but be sure to add the .xml extension.

  • The target portal is populated with the correct content.

  • The user base in the source system and in the target system is the same.

Procedure

Use the XML Content and Actions tool to import the permissions XML file to the target portal. For information, see XML Content and Actions .
