Editing Role and Workset PropertiesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can define and change the properties of freestyle roles and worksets in their Properties editors. In the editor, the object properties are grouped into two categories: Basic and All . When you choose the All link, all properties are displayed in an alphabetical list.

Among the many properties available for freestyle roles and worksets, pay attention to those listed in the following table. The properties are available for the root nodes of roles, worksets, and folders, unless otherwise specified.

Can be Merged

Defines whether a navigation node in a workset or role can be merged with another navigation node with the same merge ID. For more information, see Merging Navigation Nodes and Defining the Sequence .

Changed By

The username of the last person to make a change to the object.

Created At

The date that the object was created.

Note

Not available for root nodes of folders.

Created By

The username of the person who created the object.

Delta Link State

Defining information about the delta link: not a delta link , unmodified delta link , modified delta link , and so on.

Entry Point

Defines the entry points for top-level navigation. See also Defining Entry Points .

Invisible in Navigation Areas

Defines whether roles, worksets, and folders are displayed or invisible in the navigation areas of the portal at runtime.

Last Date Changed

The date of the last change made to the object.

Leaf Folder

Determines whether the object appears in the navigation tree as a page instead of a folder.

Master Language

Original language of the object.

Merge ID

Used to indicate which entries should be merged, according to the Can be Merged property. See also Merging Navigation Nodes and Defining the Sequence .

Name

You can overwrite the name assigned when the role or workset was created.

Navigation Zoom Point

Enables you to display a subset of the navigation hierarchy in a new portal window. See also Configuring Navigation Zoom .

PCD Location

Complete path of the object in the PCD (object ID).

Person Responsible

The current owner of the object.

Sort Priority

Defines the default order of the entry points in top-level navigation and of entries in detailed navigation. Users may be able to change this order at runtime. See also Defining the Sort Sequence of Top-Level Navigation Nodes .

Procedure
  1. In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the object that you want to open, choose Start of the navigation path Open Next navigation step Properties End of the navigation path. The Properties editor appears.

  2. Check the properties of the role or workset, or overwrite defined properties.

  3. If you change properties, click Save to save your changes.

Note

If you change properties of a role or workset and these objects are source objects from which other objects were derived (for example with a delta link), these changes are passed on to all the derived objects. For more information, see Changing Linked Objects in Roles and Worksets .
