A portal desktop combines framework pages and portal themes into a single entity, which are later assigned to portal users through display rules. You create and edit portal desktop objects in the Desktop editor.
You have access to the Desktop editor (it is assigned by default to the System Administration role)
You have at least read/write permissions for the Portal Catalog folder in which you are creating or editing a portal desktop object
You have at least read administrator permissions for the relevant framework pages and portal themes in the PCD (Portal Content Directory)
Creating a Portal Desktop
In the portal, navigate to
.In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the folder in which you want to create a portal desktop object, choose
.The Desktop wizard opens.
In the Portal Desktop Name field, enter a name for the portal desktop object.
In the Portal Desktop ID field, enter a unique ID for the portal desktop object.
Choose Next .
Add framework pages to the desktop. In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the relevant framework page, choose Add Framework Page to Portal Desktop .
Choose Next .
Add portal themes to the desktop. In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the relevant theme, choose Add Theme to Portal Desktop .
Add additional themes to the desktop to enable users to personalize their portal.
To specify the default theme, select a row in the table and choose Set Default .
Choose Next .
In the summary pane, verify the details of the new portal desktop, and choose Finish .
The portal desktop object is created in the selected folder. You can access it later from the Portal Catalog for further editing.
Editing a Portal Desktop
In the portal, navigate to
.In the Portal Catalog, in the context menu of the portal desktop object that you want to edit, choose
.The Desktop editor opens and displays the framework pages and portal themes currently assigned to the selected portal desktop object. Choose Locate in Portal Catalog to find the assigned objects in the Portal Catalog.
Add or remove framework pages and portal themes to or from the portal desktop. You can also specify a different active framework page and default portal theme.
Save your changes.
