Monitoring Systems in the Topology DisplayLocate this document in the navigation structure

The Monitored Remote SAP Systems tab page of the Topology Display lists all remote SAP systems known to the CCMS monitoring infrastructure and their connection properties. In this way, you can obtain a quick overview of which systems are monitored using the monitoring infrastructure.

For more information about starting the topology display, see Calling the Display of the Technical Topology.

By default, the system displays the following columns in Monitored Remote SAP Systems:

System ID of the monitored system

Read Data Destination

RFC destination of the monitored system that the central monitoring system uses to read data.

If you monitor a system without an ABAP instance (this is possible using the CCMS agent SAPCCMSR with Option j2ee), the text <<SID>_no_ABAP_Destination> is displayed here. The communication status is then always OFFLINE.

Analysis Destination

RFC destination of the monitored system that the central monitoring system uses for analysis and auto-reaction methods; use your own user name for this (see also: Registering SAP NetWeaver Components and Hosts in CEN)

Communication status from the point of view of the local system; the status can be one of the following:

If an RFC call fails (for example, in the case of the Single Connection command or Log On to SAP System), the system displays COMM.FAIL. After a successful RFC call, the system sets the communication status to ONLINE again.

You can also show the following columns by choosing the Change Layout.. button for the ALV Grid Control:

Internal version of the CCMS monitoring infrastructure

Communication priority; two values are possible:

  • Default: The RFC communication uses an ABAP interface

  • Agent Preferred: The RFC communication tries to use a CCMS Agent

Communication type; one of the two following values is used, depending on the definition of the RFC interface:

  • ABAP RFC connection

  • System Without an ABAP Instance

See: Destination Types

In addition to the purely display functions, the following commands are also available to you as buttons in the ALV Grid Control:

Test Single Connection

Use this function to test the RFC destination for reading data or analysis. To do this, select the relevant cell in the list of monitored systems, and choose the Test Single Connection button. Depending on the definition of the RFC destination, the logon screen of the selected system may appear next.

The connection test checks whether the authorizations required by the CSMREG User exist; that is, whether it is possible to access the function groups required for CSMREG.

If at least one test is not successful, the system displays a detailed log of exactly which errors occurred. You can show and hide messages depending on the category ( Termination, Error, Warning, Information).

To test the connection to all systems, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Connection Test to All Systems End of the navigation path. The Read Data Destination is tested as described above.

Create Remote System

With this button, you start the process Create Entry for Remote Monitoring (see Registering SAP NetWeaver Components and Hosts in CEN).

Logon to SAP System

You can log on directly to systems for which an RFC destination is specified for analysis. When you do so, the start screen Monitoring: Properties and Methods of transaction RZ21 of the relevant system appears.

Delete Entry

You can use this command to delete the entry for the monitoring of a remote system. This also deletes the associated RFC destination.

This command is only available in change mode, which you start by choosing the Display/Change button.

Change Communication Status (only in change mode)

If you no longer want to monitor a remote system, choose OFFLINE. It remains in this status until you set it to ONLINE again. Do not set COMM.FAIL or SHUTDOWN manually.

Change the RFC Destination (only in change mode)

You can change the RFC destination ( Read Data and Analysis) directly in the ALV Grid Control. Use an existing RFC destination when doing so.
