Creating a Copy of a Data ObjectLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

The status of the data object must be active.

Context

You can create a copy of a data object and modify it according to your requirements. This:

  • Ensures that you do not have to create a new data object from the beginning

  • Allows you to reuse an existing data object

Procedure

  1. Log on to the SAP NetWeaver AS and start transaction SDOE_WB.
  2. In the Data Orchestration Workbench , navigate to the data object you want to copy, click the data object with the secondary mouse button and choose Copy Data Object .
  3. Under Destination Data Object , enter the following details:

    Field name

    Description

    User action and values

    Comment

    SWCV Name

    Displays the name of the software component version under which the data object was created

    Choose F4 to select the required software component version if required.

    Data Object Name

    Indicates the name of the data object

    Enter a name for the data object.

    The name must not contain any spaces or special characters.

    Ensure the name you specify reflects the data set the node represents and conforms to the naming conventions.

    Parent Segment

    Indicates the name of the parent node when you copy a data object node

    A read-only field.

    This field is not used in copying a data object and is blank.

  4. Under Node Details , the node attributes of the existing data object are displayed in the Source Node and Destination Node columns.You can change the node names in the Destination Node column, if required.
  5. Choose Copy .
  6. In the Package field, enter the name of the transportable package and choose Save .
    Note

    To save the data object locally, choose Local Object . In such a case, the data object is part of the $TMP package and is not transported. However, at a later point of time, to transport the data object, you can assign the locally saved data object to a transportable package.

  7. Enter the transport request and choose Enter .
    Note

    To create a transport request, choose Create Request .
