Every object created in an SAP system has an object type (for example, data element, message).
In the translation environment, each object type is assigned to an object group . An object group collects object types of a similar translation priority.
Object types and object groups enable you to define the scope of translation for each target language.
You need to translate into target languages English and Simplified Chinese.
You want all texts that end users and developers see to be available in English. For Simplified Chinese, you only want to translate the texts that an end user sees. You also have master data that you want to translate into English only, and forms that you want to translate into both English and Simplified Chinese.
You define object groups A5 , A6 , B5 , E5 , and G5 for translation into English.
You define object groups A5 , A6 , and B5 for translation into Simplified Chinese.
After you have activated an object type for a target language, objects of this object type appear in the worklists and statistics for this target language after you run an evaluation . If an object type is not active for a target language, no objects of this object type will ever appear in the worklists and statistics. If all object types are inactive for a specific target language, no evaluations take place for this language.
Automatic distribution is defined for each object type. It therefore makes sense to define which object types need translating, and to define the distribution parameters for these object types at the same time.
