Configuring the Log AreaLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

In accordance with the Authorization Concept, the user was assigned one of the roles SAP_BC_LVC_ADMINISTRATOR or SAP_BC_LVC_SUPERUSER.

The SAP liveCache database is in the ONLINE or ADMIN operational state.

Context

In the Volumes user menu, you can, among other things, configure the log area.

If the log area no longer has sufficient storage space, you can add more log volumes. The system adjusts all dependent parameters during the change.

Note

When a user executes a particular configuration function, this function is locked for all other users.

Procedure

  • Configuring the Log Area with the DBA Cockpit

    Open the DBA Cockpit (transaction DBACOCKPIT) and select Start of the navigation path Space Next navigation step Log Area End of the navigation path.

  • Configuring the Log Area with the liveCache Assistant

    1. In the user menu, choose liveCache Assistant (transaction  LC10).

    2. Enter the name of the database connection. You can select the name from the list of existing names. You can restrict the search for the required name.

    3. Choose Start of the navigation path liveCache Next navigation step Monitoring End of the navigation path.

    4. Choose Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step Configuration Next navigation step Volumes Next navigation step Log Area End of the navigation path.

  • Configuring the Log Area

    Check the operational state. Check the operational state. The SAP liveCache database must be in the ONLINE or ADMIN operational state.

    Choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Add Volume End of the navigation path. If the current volume configuration corresponds to the SAP liveCache naming convention, the generated name of the new volume is already displayed in the dialog box.

    Make the following entries in this screen:

    Size in KB

    Size of the new log volume

    Path

    Complete path of the new log volume.

    Confirm the default value.

    UNIX: You can decide whether a file or a raw device should be created.

    Confirm your entries.

Results

After you have confirmed your entries again, the new log volume is created.

The new file is created with the specified size. This can take some time, since the new volume is formatted (this does not apply if the volume is created on a UNIX raw device).
