Log AreaLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The Space Management display of the Database Alert Monitor or liveCache Alert Monitor shows you status information about logging and automatic log backups, as well as the last log sequence numbers.

Procedure

Open the Database Alert Monitor or liveCache Alert Monitor. Choose Start of the navigation path Space Management Next navigation step Log Area End of the navigation path.

Default for Alerts

Total Log Space

Total storage space available in the log area in MB

Free Log Space

Free storage space in MB

Total Log Space

Occupied storage space as a percentage

Log Writing

Shows you whether the logging is active or not.

Autosave Log

Shows you whether automatic log backups are activated or not. If automatic log backup is not activated, a yellow alert is generated.

Last Log I/O Sequence Number

Shows you the last log sequence number.

Overwrite Mode

Green alert: Overwrite mode is not activated (status OFF)

Red alert: Overwrite mode is activated (or the status is not OFF)

  • If there is not enough free space in the log area, proceed as described in Monitoring the Log Area.

  • Logging must always be active in production systems.

  • To guarantee the security of your system, automatic log backups must always be activated. Proceed as described in the section Activating Automatic Log Backups.
