You can save a variant for a query after you have filled the variables with values according to your requirements. When you next open the workbook, you can call the variant. You can also select different variable values for an existing variant and save the variant. For example, you can add a variable value to a variant. You can create multiple variants so that you can choose different variable values. However, only one variant can be active at any one time.
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 14, you can save variants for a workbook and not only for a query. You make the settings for this in the workbook settings. Below, only query variants are mentioned, but the functions for workbook variants are identical.
More information:Workbook Settings
You are using a query that contains at least one input-ready variable.
Saving Query Variants
If you set the Save as User-Specific Variantindicator, the variant is only available to you. If you do not set the indicator, everyone who opens the query can use the variant.
If you set the Use as Default Variant indicator, this variant is used when the query is opened.
The variant is now displayed in the list of available variants.
If you later want to change the description for the variant, choose Properties and enter the new description.
The results for the variant are displayed in the analysis grid.
You can use the variant for the query the next time you open the query.
Overwriting Query Variants
The selected variable values overwrite the existing variant.
The variant is displayed in the list of variants available to the user. The query is executed for the variant and the results are displayed in the analysis grid.
Deleting Query Variants
The function for deleting variants is only available if you have created at least one variant for the query.
You have saved variable values in your query as a variant. The variant is displayed in the list of variants available to the user and can be called the next time the query is executed.
