Providing the Light Room DirectoryLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use the light room directory in addition to the standard room directory to display your own rooms in the portal in a high-performance and simple manner.

Technical Features

The light room directory is a static HTML page that the system stores in the userhome directory of the KM repository in the form of a hidden file. The light room directory is only updated when you rebuild the HTML page or change the member status of users.

Note

Using the light room directory reduces the load on the TREX server.

Configuration

Below are the requirements for using the light room directory:

  • System-wide activation of the relevant configuration objects
  • Setting of the relevant iView properties for the standard room directory to realize the following:
    • Permit the use of the light room directory to display users' own rooms.

This setting causes the light room directory to open when a user calls the room directory.

    • Optional: Display the menu for personalizing the room directory.

If you permit personalization, users can use the menu to switch the light room directory on and off.

    • Switching the layout: Tab pages or links to the standard room directory

The graphic below shows the light room directory and the options available there.

Prerequisites
  • The My Rooms tab page is set as the initial tab page in the standard room directory. (The light room directory is responsible for displaying this tab page. The other tab pages of the standard room directory can be called as advanced options.)
  • Accessibility is not activated in the user profile. (If accessibility is activated, the system only displays the standard room directory.)
Procedure

Activate the Light Room Directory in the Portal

  1. Choose System Administration → System Configuration → Collaboration → Light Room Directory.
  2. Under Topics, choose Light Room Directory.
  3. Call the configuration object lightroomdirectory for editing and display the advanced options.
  4. Activate the Use Light Room Directory property.

Permit the Light Version, Personalization, and Tab Page Layout for the Room Directory

  1. Choose Content Administration → Portal Content.
  2. Open the standard room directory iView in the content catalog structure by choosing Portal Content → Content Provided by SAP → Collaboration → iViews → Room Directory (com.sap.netweaver.coll.RoomDirectory).
  3. Choose the Show All property category.
  4. Set the Show Light Room Directory property to Yes.
    Note

If you are using multiple standard room directories with different filter assignments, you may only permit the use of the light room directory for one of your standard room directories (because the light room directory is saved as a single HTML page).

  5. Set the Show 'Personalize' Option to Yes.
    Note

Only allow personalization if the light room directory is permitted for the standard room directory. Otherwise, this option would be confusing, since the system would only be able to display the standard room directory anyway.

  6. To activate the tab page layout for a light room directory (like the standard room directory), set the Used tabbed design for light Roomdirectory property to Yes.
    Note

If personalization is permitted, users can use the Personalize link in the options menu of the room directory to switch between the (newer) tab page layout and the layout with links to the tab pages for the room directory.

This layout change refers only to the header area of the light room directory. It means that either the My Rooms tab page is displayed or the three links to tab pages are displayed as in the footer area.
