Using the Change Web Template command (CHANGE_TEMPLATE), at the runtime of a Web application to switch Web templates while still retaining the data providers and Web items that are available in the original Web template. The system generates those Web items and data providers again that are displayed in the new Web template, as long as no objects already exist with the same name.

This command is particularly useful if you no longer need the original Web template. In contrast to this command, command Transfer State (TRANSFER_STATE) allows you to have two Web templates that are independent of each other.
