Use

Using the Set Filter Values Using Different Sources command (SET_SELECTION_STATE_BY_BINDING), you can set filter values for a characteristic; you can use various sources as the basis for the filter values. In this way, you can enter filter values:

  • freely
  • based on the filter values of another data provider
  • based on variable values
  • based on a Web item selection
  • based on a Web item that permits manual input (input field Web item)
Command Parameters

The following information lists the command parameters in the same sequence that they appear in the command wizard when you insert the command:

Parameter Description

Target Data Providers (TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST)

 

 

 

You enter a list of all data providers on which the command is based.

You specify the individual data providers in the Data Provided Affected parameter (TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF).

Selection Bindings (SELECTION_BINDINGS)

Characteristic (CHARACTERISTIC)

You use this parameter and the input help to select the characteristic on which the filter values are to be applied.

Selection Binding Type (SELECTION_BINDING_TYPE)

You use this parameter to select the source on which the filter values are to be based. You can choose from the following options:

Selections (SELECTIONS)

Data Provider Selection

(DATA_PROVIDER_CHARACTERISTIC)

Variable (VARIABLE) Web Item Selection (ITEM_CHARACTERISTIC)

Web Item with Manual Input

(ITEM_INPUT)

Depending on the source (selection binding type) on which the filter values are to be based, you must set additional parameters. See the information and tables below.

If you select Selections (SELECTIONS) as the source, you must set the same parameters that are to be set for the Set Filter Values command. For more information, see Set Filter Values .

If you select Data Provider Selection(DATA_PROVIDER_CHARACTERISTIC) as the source, you must set the following additional parameters:

Parameter Description

Data Provider (DATA_PROVIDER)

You use this parameter to select the data provider with the filter values that are to be used as the source. Note that you cannot create data providers in the parameter dialog box - you have to create them beforehand.

Characteristic (CHARACTERISTIC)

You use this parameter and the input help to select the characteristic that is to be used as the source.

If you select Variable (VARIABLE) as the source, you must set the following additional parameters:

Variable (VARIABLE)

You use this parameter to specify the variable on which the filter values are to be based.

If you select Web Item Selection(ITEM_CHARACTERISTIC) as the source, you must set the following additional parameters:

Parameter Description

Web Item (ITEM_REF)

You use this parameter to select the Web item that is to return the selection for the filter values. This enables you to use, for example, the selections for the Analysis Web item.

Note that you cannot create Web items yourself in the parameter dialog; you must insert them into the Web template and make the required settings beforehand.

If you select Web Item with Manual Input(ITEM_INPUT) as the source, you must set the following additional parameters:

Web Item (ITEM_REF)

You use this parameter to specify the input field Web item that is to enable manual input of filter values. More information: Input Field .
