Anonymous LogonLocate this document in the navigation structure

Anonymous logon enables you to access your SAP NetWeaver systems in anonymous mode, without providing any form of authentication. For example, if your company sets up an external portal to be accessed from the Internet, you can make anonymous content available to anyone who visits the portal. Using self-registration, visitors can then register themselves as portal users.

Security Considerations

The portal provides a form of anonymous logon with 'named' anonymous users. Named anonymous users are users that exist in the user data store and log on automatically to the portal without any or with only a minimal and noninteractive set of authentication checks.

Using named users for anonymous access enables you to perform audits of the use of your SAP NetWeaver systems by Internet users. Thereby you can address the security risks associated with providing anonymous access to your systems.

You can use the identity management functions of SAP NetWeaver to specify the user IDs for named anonymous users and to assign them appropriate system authorization levels.

Restrictions

SAP Knowledge Management (KM) does not fully support anonymous logon. For more information about using anonymous logon with KM, see the following SAP Notes:
