CM Repository: FS-DB Database Synchronization

Use

This report is used for specific synchronization of content and metadata in CM repositories that are operated in FSDB persistence mode and for which automatic synchronization is deactivated.

The results list all resources that contain differences between the database and the file system. You can use a command to manually synchronize the resources found.

Prerequisites

You are running at least one CM repository in FSDB persistence mode and have deactivated automatic synchronization (the Disable Automatic FSDB Synchronization parameter is active). As a result of this setting, changes that are made directly in the file system (changes to properties, pasting, renaming/moving, deletion of folders or documents) are not transferred to the database.

You can configure the following settings for this report.

Scope tab

Parameter	Description
Location	Specifies one or more CM repositories in the FSDB persistence mode for which the Disable Automatic FSDB Synchronization parameter is activated. If you specify more than one repository, the report processes them sequentially.
Maximum Results	The system terminates the search when it has found the corresponding number of resources. The entry -1 signifies no limitation.

Parameter	Description
Collect Resources That Are New on the FS:	The report lists the resources for which there are entries in the file system but that do not have entries in the database.
Collect Resources Removed on the FS:	The report lists the resources for which there are entries in the database but that no longer have entries in the file system.
Collect Resources Differing Between DB and FS:	The report lists the resources that contain different values for the file size and change date properties in the database and the file system.

Command	Description
Synchronize	Specifies whether the database is synchronized with the file system. If a new resource is found in the file system, a new entry is created for the resource in the database. If metadata for a resource is found in the database for an entry that was already removed from the file system, this command deletes all metadata (resource properties) for this resource. If the system finds resources that contain different values in the file system and the database, the entries in the database are updated with the values in the file system. Synchronization always starts from the specified RID.
