Configuring Service Groups ManuallyLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have accessed the business scenario or consumer application configuration screen. For more information, see Configuring the Consumer Side of Business Scenarios and Configuring Consumer Applications .

Context

When managing business scenarios and consumer applications, if the configuration assignment of a Service Group fails for any reason you can configure the Service Group manually. There are two possible options:

  • Configure the Service Group manually by specifying the configuration options from a wizard. The manual configuration triggers a wizard with which you create a logical port to the consumer application.

  • Configure the Service Group manually by assigning an RFC connection to it. The manual configuration triggers a procedure with which you create the assignment of the connection.

Procedure

  1. In SAP NetWeaver Administrator, go to Start of the navigation path SOA Next navigation step Application and Scenario Communication End of the navigation path and do one of the following:
    • For business scenarios, choose Business Scenario Communication and select a scenario.

    • For consumer applications, choose Application Communication and select an application.

  2. Choose the Consumed Service Groups tab.
  3. Choose a Service Group for which there is no provider system assigned.

The system displays information about the Service References belonging to this Service Group in a table.

  4. Choose Edit .
  5. Choose a Service Reference from the list.

In case the system does not display additional information about the selected entry, choose the Show Details control on the top of the Service Reference list.

  6. Choose the Configuration tab, and depending on the type of connectivity proceed in one of the following ways:
    • For Service Groups that use Web service connectivity, choose the Configure Manually button to manually create a new configuration for the Service Group. For more information, see the Creating a Logical Port section of the following document: Configuring Individual Web Service Clients

    • For Service Groups that use RFC connectivity, choose the Configure Manually button to select an RFC connection that you want to assign to the consumer application.

    • To discard the manual configuration of the Service Group, choose the Remove Manual Configuration button.

This would allow you to assign a provider system to the service group.

  7. Choose Save to save the changes to the Service Group.
