Upgrade with IBM DB2 for iLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The database IBM DB2 for i is tightly integrated into the operating system, so that upgrading the database is identical to upgrading the operating system. You can perform an upgrade of the IBM i operating system independently from an SAP upgrade. In some cases, you might need to upgrade the IBM i operating system before you can upgrade the SAP system. For more information, see SAP Note 68440 Information published on SAP site.

Prerequisites

You must stop all applications before upgrading the IBM i operating system (including IBM DB2 for i).

Note

During the upgrade, the system performs an IPL several times.

  4. You schedule the necessary downtime for performing the upgrade including the necessary backups.

  5. You perform a complete system backup prior to the upgrade.

  6. You perform the upgrade according to the IBM documentation.

  7. You install the current fixes for your target release.
