You can translate the folder property values Name and Description into other languages.
Property values are displayed in the language set in the portal or the browser, provided that the corresponding translation exists.
If no translation exists, the system displays the reference language. This is the language that the property was initially specified in.
You maintain the translations in the Details dialog box.
If you want to use multilingual properties, the following prerequisites must be met:
Launch the Details dialog box for a folder and choose Settings → Multilingual Properties.
On the left-hand side of the screen, you can see the reference language and the language versions that already exist. The property values of the chosen reference language are always displayed if there are no translations for the language in which a user is logged on to the portal, or which is set in his or her browser.
On the right-hand side of the screen, you can choose other language and translate the property values displayed into these languages. Choose Apply for Language to save the translated values in the entry fields.
If you have entered several values in different languages, you can save all your entries at once by choosing Save.
To adopt the reference language values for the properties of the languages to be translated, choose the corresponding arrow buttons and confirm your changes by choosing Apply for Language. For example, this makes sense if you can use identical translations for related languages.
To delete all entries for a language, choose Clear All.
Once you have completed the translation, do not rename the folder in the Explorer, otherwise you will lose all translated values.
If you change the description of a folder, all translated descriptions are lost.
