Creating RFC DestinationsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You have obtained authorization to connect to a server and to access the required RFC.

  • You have entered the required SAP systems into the SAP logon group.

Context

To establish connections to servers that contain Remote Function Calls (RFC), you must create RFC destinations.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Window Next navigation step Preferences End of the navigation path.
  2. In the Preferences tree, expand the Destination Configurations node and choose R/3 Configuration .
  3. In the R/3 Configuration screen area, click Add .
  4. Choose either Single Server or Load Balancing connection mode.
  5. In the SAP Backend Information window, specify the destination details as explained in the following tables:

    Connection Name

    Name of the physical destination of an SAP system

    A meaningful alphanumeric text

    Host Name

    Name of the host to which you want to connect

    The name of the host, for example, u9cmain

    System Number

    System number of the SAP system to which you want to connect

    A numeric value, for example, 00

    SAP Router

    SAP Router used to connect to the message server

    A routing entry, for example, saproute.ini

    Load Balancing Connection Mode

    Name of the physical destination of an SAP system

    System

    Predefined SAP system name

    Choose the SAP system name, for example, W19[PUBLIC]

    Message Server

    Name of the message server that is responsible for communication between application servers belonging to an SAP system

    The name of the message server, for example, W19tdc00.wdf.sap.corp

    System Name

    System ID of the SAP system to which you want to connect

    An alphanumeric system name, for example, W19

    Group

    Load balancing group or application server to which you want to connect. A load balancing group connects you to the server with the best performance
    Example

    PUBLIC or SPACE

    SAP Router

    SAP Router used to connect to the message server

    A routing entry, for example, saproute.ini

  6. Specify the authentication details as explained in the following table.

    Client

    Indicates the client number. When you log on to an SAP system, you log on to a particular client of that system. Any activities you carry out in the system are always carried out in one client

    A numeric value

    Logon Name

    Name of the user through which the system can connect to the required destination of the SAP system

    A username assigned to you

    Password

    The corresponding password through which the system can connect to the required destination of the SAP system

    A password assigned to you

    Language

    Language you want to use to logon to the SAP system

    The language key for the desired language, for example, En is the language key for English
  7. To save the authentication details, select Store Password .
  8. Choose OK .

Results

The RFC destination that you have created is available for search in the Visual Composer Search task panel on relaunching Visual Composer.
