Use

The Messages user menu of the DBA Cockpit contains a display of information output by the database kernel.

Procedure

Open the DBA Cockpit (transaction DBACOCKPIT) and choose Start of the navigation path Diagnosis Next navigation step Messages Next navigation step Kernel Messages End of the navigation path.

Caution

For SAP NetWeaver 7.1, the kernel messages are displayed in the Kernel Messages user menu.

Result

Current messages and old messages are logged in ring memory files that are overwritten as soon as they reach a certain size.

The first part of the file, which logs the last restart of the database, is excluded from the write cycle. A new log file is created each time the database system is started.

Error messages are logged continuously in a file. Delete any obsolete entries manually.
