Advanced Copying of Layout SetsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use the Advanced Copy function to generate complete copies of layout sets. This duplicates the layout set and copies the collection renderer settings, resource renderer settings, and UI command groups assigned to it.

Features

You can use parameters to determine the scope of the duplication, the naming conventions, and the handling of name conflicts. A preview displays all configuration objects to be copied.

Parameters of the Advanced Copy Function

Duplication Scope

You can use a flag to determine whether the relevant collection renderer settings , resource renderer settings , and commands and command groups should be copied with the layout set.

Naming Conventions

You can define the structure of the names of copies in order to manage configuration objects that belong to a layout set more effectively.

You can replace character strings of existing names with other character strings. You can also attach character strings to existing names as prefixes or suffixes. You can also combine these two options.

Name Conflicts

You can use a flag to determine the handling of name conflicts.

If a configuration object that is to be copied already exists in the system under the name that has been defined for it, you can choose to keep the existing configuration object or replace it with the copy. If you choose to keep the existing configuration object, no copy is created.

Alternatively, you can add a count to the end of the name, for example, a copy named object_command1 is created of the existing configuration object object_command.

Preview

You can look at a preview of a copy before staring the copying process in the system. This preview depicts all configuration objects to be copied in a tree view. You can open or close the levels of the tree view by clicking on the arrow symbols.

For each configuration object, the system displays the technical parameter name (for example, rndResourceRendererSettings ), the old name, and an input field in which you can edit the name suggested by the system.

By default, all configuration objects are selected and given a flag.

Note

Note the following:

  • ·         You have to remove the selection of an object if you don't want it to be included in the copy.
  • ·         If you do not want to generate a copy of a configuration object and want to use the original object in the copy instead, delete the name suggested by the system.

If the Preview Only flag is set, you can make changes to the duplication scope or name conventions.

If you remove the Preview Only flag and choose Execute, the system starts the actual copying process. As soon as the system has created the copy you receive an overview of the result. This overview contains a tree view with the technical parameter names and the new names of the configuration objects.
