You have created communication profiles. The profile must have at least one active version.
If you want to edit, activate or deactivate, or to import a connection from the file system, the connection has to be available.
To consume Web services that are running on a provider system, you have to establish a connection from your client system to this provider system. When you create the connection, you specify the policies of the communication between the systems. These policies apply only to the communication between the systems and do not apply to the concrete services on these systems. You define the policies in communication profiles and refer to them in the system connection. At a later stage, the business administrator uses the system connections to configure groups of consumer proxies that consume Web services on the configured provider systems.
For more information, see Connection to Provider Systems
At a later stage, the business administrator assigns these provider systems to one or more Service Groups, and thus creates a runtime configuration for the applications that consume the respective service references. When the business administrator assigns a provider system that uses WS connectivity to a deployed Service Group, the system creates configuration entities (logical ports) that have the specific configuration settings of the connection. The configuration of Service Groups with RFC provider systems results in the creation of an RFC destination to the system which can be used for invocation of the remote function module.
Alternatively, you can use the quick link /systems as follows:
The System Connections screen opens.
Proceed with one of the following:
Creating a Connection to a Provider System.
For more information, see Creating a Connection
Editing a Connection to a Provider System.
For more information, see Editing a Connection
Activating and Deactivating a Connection to a Provider System.
For more information, see Activating and Deactivating a Connection
Exporting and Importing a Connection to a Provider System.
For more information. see Exporting and Importing a Connection
Deleting a Connection to a Provider System.
To delete a connection to a provider system, proceed as follows:
Choose an entry from the table of configured connections.
Choose Delete .
To confirm, choose Yes .
For connections to provider systems that use WS connectivity, you can check the connection by choosing Ping System . If you configured the connection correctly, the framework lists all service definitions that are running on the provider system.
The Ping System functionality is disabled for connections to provider systems that use only RFC connectivity.
In the next step, a business administrator can proceed with assigning the provider system connection to a Service Group and thus configure the consumer proxies which consume services from the provider system.
