Deleting DatabasesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You are logged on to the database as database system administrator or as a DBM operator with server authorization for managing installations.

  • The database is in the OFFLINE operational state.

Context

Note

You can also delete databases using Installation Manager.

Procedure

  1. Select the database in the explorer tree.
  2. In the context menu of the database, choose Start of the navigation path Administration Tasks Next navigation step Delete Database... End of the navigation path
  3. You can select the following options:

    Option

    Description

    Force DBM servers to stop

    Stops all DBM servers immediately, regardless of whether or not they are still executing commands.

    If you do not choose this option, Database Studio waits until the DBM servers have executed all their current commands.

    Do not delete database files

    Database Studio only deletes the database service, but the files (volumes, log files, and so on) remain in the file system. You have to use operating system tools to access these files; you can no longer access them using database tools.

  4. To delete the database, choose Delete.
