A day schema specifies whether or not the individual hours of the day should be considered during the aggregation of minute, quarter hour, or hour values to day values. In this way, you can ensure that only values for a particular time of day are used when calculating the daily average values.

In the Central Performance History (CPH) of the monitoring architecture, average values for minutes, quarter hours, and hours are read from the monitoring segment of the monitoring architecture. These values are aggregated into a coarser resolution in accordance with the rules of the relevant collection and reorganization schema and then the data for the finer resolution is deleted. In this way, for example, 24 values (one per hour) are aggregated to one value (one per day).

This aggregation can be performed with a simple average value calculation, however using day and calendar schemata, you can use only certain values for the aggregation that are relevant for you. In this way, for example, a bad dialog system performance during the day would be far more critical than during the night, when single long-running processes could affect the values much more easily.

Day schemata are used for all aggregations during which data with a minimum resolution of hours is aggregated to data with a resolution of days.

For an explanation of this table display, see Collection and Reorganization Schema.

SAP delivers the following day schemata by default:

Day Schema Areas that are used during the aggregation

Values during the day (08:00:00 - 19:59:59) or during the night (00:00:00 - 07:59:59 and 20:00:00 - 23:59:59)

Values during the hours of the day in which the performance attribute reaches the largest or smallest average value during the relevant day

Values during the hours of the day in which the performance attribute reaches the largest or smallest total of the measured values during the relevant day

You can use the day schemata SAP_AVG_* and SAP_SUM_* (largest and smallest values that occur during a day) in the same way as other day schemata when creating collection and reorganization schemata. However, these schemata are not in the list of day schemata (see Creating and Editing a Day Schema). The reason for this is that it is not possible to specify unchangeable settings for the various hours of the day for these schemata, as the development of the values cannot be predicted.

These special day schemata are less useful for the reorganization. They are primarily for use in reporting and analysis (see Reporting with the Central Performance History).
