Configuring Favorites ProvidersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

In the Provider Configuration screen, you can configure the favorites providers that have been registered in your system. At runtime, portal users can access the different providers in the Favorites menu.

The Portal Favorites provider is available by default, and cannot be edited. You cannot apply filtering to the default provider.

Procedure

  1. Activate the filtering mechanism for favorites providers.

    1. In SAP NetWeaver Administrator, locate the application com.sap.portal.favorites.service.wrappers and the service FavoritesManager .

    2. Set the value of the FilterFavoritesProviders property to true .

    Note

    When this property is set to false , all registered favorites providers are displayed in the Favorites menu and changes that you make to favorites providers in the Provider Configuration screen do not appear at runtime, including changes to filter ID values.

  2. In the portal administration environment, go to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step Provider Configuration End of the navigation path.
  3. To add a new favorites provider, in the Favorites Providers section choose Add Provider .

    The status of providers that you add is initially set to Disabled .

  4. In the Add Favorites Provider dialog box, select one of the available favorites providers.

    You can change the name and description of the selected provider, and you can specify filter IDs to exclude the provider from a given desktop.

  5. To edit an existing favorites provider, choose Edit Provider . You can change the name or description of the favorites provider and add or remove filter IDs.

  6. To remove a favorites provider, choose Remove Provider .
