Administration Tasks for Enterprise Reporting, Query and AnalysisLocate this document in the navigation structure

This section provides you with information about the administration and optimal maintenance of the BW system to enable users to use Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis.

With Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis, we mean how business experts can use the reporting and analysis tools available in SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW) to provide BW information customized for the different categories of user within your company.

The tools in the BW Suite, subsequently referred to as Business Explorer (BEx), allow business experts to create and distribute reports and analyses. These tools are fully integrated and have user-friendly, intuitive interfaces.

You can perform a detailed analysis of BI information on the Web and in Microsoft Excel. You can also define formatted reports optimized for presentation and printing.

Web applications and formatted reports can be converted quickly and simply into PDF files and printed.

Users access BW information from the portal. They can use information broadcasting functions to distribute this information by e-mail for example, or distribute it to KM folders and collaboration rooms.

Integration

This section discusses the most important administration tasks to ensure that you get the best out of the Business Explorer tools.

When integrating BW contents in the portal, keep Portal, Knowledge Management, and Collaboration administration in mind as well.

Note

If you are using the Business Explorer tools from SAP BW 3.5 (SAP NetWeaver 04) and ABAP runtime, read the Technical Operations Manual for SAP BW 3.5. You can find more information in the SAP Library at help.sap.com/nw04 → cms1411606471888.xml → SAP NetWeaver → Technical Operations Manual → Additional Administration of SAP NetWeaver Components → SAP Business Information Warehouse.

Information about supported Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office versions (with maintenance periods) is available in the SAP Developer Network (SDN) under Information Management → Business Intelligence → Reporting, Analysis, and Planning → Maintenance Information → BEx Compatibility of MS Operating Systems and Office Products or in the Product Availability Matrix (login to SAP Service Marketplace (SMP) required).

For Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis, you need to have the same support package version for SAP NetWeaver in the portal and in the BW system. This applies if you are using the BI Java usage type in the portal.
