Adding User Agent Definitions to Device GroupsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

At runtime, user agent definitions are used to determine the type of device being used to access the portal. You can add user agent definitions to device groups, so that when a user accesses the portal, they are assigned to the related device group.

Procedure
  1. In the portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step System Configuration Next navigation step Portal Display Next navigation step Device Group Manager End of the navigation path.

  2. In the Device Group Manager, in the User Agent Definitions for Selected Device Groups area, choose New . The New User Agent Definition dialog box opens.

  3. Enter the user agent either using regular expression syntax or as a text string.

    Note

If you choose to specify a user agent as a text string, the portal automatically adds \Q to the start of the string and \E to the end of the string in the table, so that any special characters in the string will be recognized and handled appropriately.

  4. In the Add to Device Group field, choose the device group to which you want to add the new user agent definition.

  5. In the Operator field, choose whether you want the user agent to be included or excluded from the device group. For example, you may want to say that a smartphone device group includes the user agent iPhone but excludes the user agent iPad .

  6. Choose Apply to add the user agent definition to the device group and continue to create other user agent definitions as needed.

  7. Choose OK to close the dialog box and add the user agent definitions to the device group.

  8. Choose Save .

Note

You can modify a user agent definition at any time by changing it inline in the User Agent Definition column of the table.
