Creating Systems Based on the System Landscape DirectoryLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

The portal is connected to an active system landscape directory.

Context

You can create portal systems using data retrieved from the system landscape directory (SLD). There are two templates available for SLD-based system as one of two possible portal system templates. Each of these templates brings with it its own relevant properties:

  • The Load Balancing template requires the configuration of the properties Message Server Host and Group .

  • The Dedicated Host template requires the configuration of the properties Application Server Host , Gateway Host , and Gateway Service .

Note
  • You can import a specific object from the SLD into the portal only once. Imported system landscapes and systems are no longer available for import.

  • Portal and system landscape directory integration only supports ABAP systems and does not support systems that belong to more than one landscape.

Procedure

  1. In the portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step System Landscape End of the navigation path to open the system landscape overview.
  2. In the system landscape overview, choose Start of the navigation path SLD Next navigation step Create System End of the navigation path.

The selection page of the import wizard appears showing two panes: Available Systems on the left and Selected Systems on the right.

  3. To view available SLD systems, choose Refresh from SLD .
  4. Choose the systems on which you want to base new portal systems and use the appropriate arrows to move them to the right-hand pane.

If you choose a landscape, all the systems under the landscape move with it.

  5. Choose Next to open the Configure page of the wizard, in which you can view and edit properties of selected systems. The imported systems are listed in the left panel. When you select a system, its properties appear in the right pane. Though you are basing the new portal systems on data from the SLD, you can change property values of the portal systems as required.

Select a system to view its properties and change their values as you require.

    Note

Important information about some of the properties:

    • For the client properties, you can choose multiple clients. Each of the multiple client creates a separate instance of the system, where the only difference between the instances is the value of the client property. Add clients to a new portal system as follows:

      1. Near the Client field, choose Apply Multiple Clients . A dialog box appears listing all clients.

      2. Select the clients you want to apply to the system (multi-select is possible) and choose Apply .

    • The portal assigns the Logical Name property, imported from the back end, as the system alias of the new system. You can change this value for the portal system.

    • In this step, you can establish trust between the new system and the back-end system. For more information about trust, see Creating Trust Between Portal and Back-End Systems .

    • The SLD does not supply values for WAS or ITS paths. You take these values from the configurations in SAP NetWeaver Administrator.

  6. Choose Next to view the Summary page containing a list of the new systems.

The imported systems are available for viewing and editing in the system landscape overview. For more information see, System Landscape Overview .
