Configuring the Properties of a Web Content ItemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can enter properties in editors for Web content (for example, in the article editor). Properties do not appear in the Web content item itself. Properties are metadata and contain additional information about the item. They help to organize the content.

Procedure

To edit or create the properties of a Web content item, proceed as follows:

  1. Start the Web content editor for the item in question.

    The Properties screen area displays the storage location of the Web content item you are about to create or edit and the properties that you can configure.

    Note

    Changes to a Web content item stored in a shared location and reused for more than one page are automatically visible on each of the affected pages, without publishing.

  2. In the Properties screen area, enter the required properties.

The editor dictates the properties that are available. The following table provides an overview of the complete list of properties regardless of the editor type:

Property

Description

File Name

Name with which the item is saved.

This name is displayed in the Web content browser and when you navigate in folders.

Do not use special characters. You may only use A-Z , a-z , and 0-9 .

Created By

Name of the user who created the item.

Description

The system stores this description as a resource property for the Web content item.

Key Words

The system stores this description as a resource property for the Web content item.

Include in RSS

The system generates an RSS feed for each Web page. Specify whether or not you want the current content to be included in the RSS feed.

Display New Icon

To display an icon depicting new information next to the title, select this checkbox.

Show Table of Contents

To generate a table of contents, select this checkbox.
