Adding a New Content Synchronization ConnectionLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

Both source and target namespace contain the same CIM model version.

Note

This is only a requirement when setting up a new content synchronization. Later model updates in any participating SLD will automatically be transported according to your content synchronization topology.

Context

During this step, all existing data is synchronized with the source namespace.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step Content Synchronization End of the navigation path.

If you want to set up a unidirectional synchronization, perform these steps on the target SLD. For a bi-directional synchronization these steps can be performed on any of both SLD systems.

  2. Choose Add to start the wizard for adding a new content synchronization connection. You will be asked to provide information in the following steps:

    1. General

Specify if you want to set up a local or remote synchronization, and if the synchronization should be uni- or bi-directional.

      Note

If you are setting up a local synchronization, then you do not need to specify source SLD.

      Choose Next .

    2. Source SLD

Specify all necessary information for obtaining changes from the source SLD (URL, user and password). The specified user must have role LcrContentSync (member of group SAP_SLD_CONTENT_SYNC ).

      Note

If your source SLD is based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPs12 or higher, you require only read-access. The specified user needs to have the LcrUser role (member of group SAP_SLD_GUEST).

      Choose Next .

    3. Source Namespace

Select the source namespace for changes from the list of available namespaces of the source system.

Also define the rank of the source namespace if it is still undefined (-1) or change it if desired.

      Choose Next .

    4. Local SLD

Specify all necessary information about the local SLD (URL, user and password). The specified user must also have role LcrContentSync (member of group SAP_SLD_CONTENT_SYNC ). This information is required for two purposes:

      • Upon changes, the source SLD will send a notification using this data.

      • For a bi-directional synchronization, the source SLD will use this information for the opposite direction.

Also define the rank of the local target namespace if it is still undefined (-1) or change it if desired.

        Choose Next .

    5. Summary

A summary of all configuration data is shown. You can either choose Back to apply changes if necessary or choose Finish to add and activate this new configuration.

Results

The new synchronization just configured will be started immediately. (By default any new synchronization is active and uses notifications.) As shown by the status information in the user interface, a full sync will be performed first.

Once this step is finished, content synchronization will continue in incremental mode, synchronizing any changes that occur in the source namespace automatically.
