Running CE Applications in Remote Portals (Optional)Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Once your applications are available in your local SAP NetWeaver CE system, you have the option to enable their runtime access from a remote SAP NetWeaver 7.0 or 7.3 portal. You benefit by taking advantage of the advanced composition capabilities offered in SAP NetWeaver CE while keeping your corporate portal in a stable environment that is updated less frequently and ensuring a consistent end-user experience. To implement this scenario, do either of the following:

  • Use the SAP NetWeaver Portal iView wizard to create an iView based on remote content. You can create a local Web Dynpro iView to run a remote application and you can create a local portal component iView to run a remote portal runtime iView.

For more information, see Creating iViews Based on Remote Content .

For information about creating iViews, which use remote content, in SAP NetWeaver 7.0, go to SAP NetWeaver Library for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1 and navigate as follows: Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver by Key Capability  Next navigation step People Integration by Key Capability  Next navigation step People Integration by Key Capability  Next navigation step Portal  Next navigation step Portal Administration Guide  Next navigation step Content Administration  Next navigation step iViews  Next navigation step Creating iViews  Next navigation step Creating iViews Based on Remote Content End of the navigation path.

  • Set up a federated portal network between the SAP NetWeaver CE portal and the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 portal. Note that a portal running on SAP NetWeaver CE is qualified to function as a producer portal only; consumer capabilities are therefore not supported.

For more information, see Running Content in a Remote Portal Using FPN .
